

Once they deleted those registry values and updated O&O Shutup++ they had no further issues launching MS Edge. I believe the majority of users who encountered this problem in early September 2022 were using an outdated version of the O&O Shutup++ privacy tool that was incorrectly re-creating the deprecated MetricsReportingEnabled value in the registry. If you search your registry for MetricsReportingEnabled and cannot find that value at under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge or the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge registry keys then it’s unlikely that your problem launching Edge has anything to do with the issue being discussed in this thread. 2) – see the release notes for the stable release channel of MS Edge.
